We Are Dancing For You
Book Project
Description of the book project:
With the help of your generous support the We Are Dancing For You book project will donate and distribute this new book to American Indian youth centers, Native rehabilitation programs, Youth and Adult correctional facilities, and Tribal libraries across the state of California. The book project allows anyone to purchase a copy of We Are Dancing For You to be sent to one of these many facilities in California. The We Are Dancing For You book project is sponsored by the Native Women’s Collective. Why is this project important: Our book project addresses the need of institutions that are often ignored for new and relevant books about the political position of Native peoples in the state. We are also centering incarcerated Native youth and adults in our project because of how often they are the last to receive any consideration or benefit. The We Are Dancing For You book project extends belonging and care to those who live away from their communities and shares a beautiful story of California Indian resurgence with other Native peoples across the state. Goal of the project: Our goal is to send We Are Dancing For You to institutions throughout the state and build a public discourse about the importance of valuing women and girls in our communities and the value of ceremony to our peoples. If you have questions or would like more information please contact us! Thank you to our donors!
